The author interviewed 170 surviving seaman who described their harrowing experiences; each vessel listed has a fine b & w photo; complete statistics etc. and a thorough English translation of the Japanese text. There is a list of servicemen lost with each ship's history; in addition there are 16 full-page b & w photos of various ships in action; plus 8 additional pages of dramatic reproductions of paintings of ships under fire, sinking, etc. also in full-color. It's the most comprehensive book on the subject that will ever be written!
