Hardcover. 206 pp; for text volume and 190 pp for plate volume, respectively; magnificent compilation of the saiing ships belonging to the navy of the Dual Monarchy of Denmark-Norway (until 1814) and Denmark from 1690-1890; the period when sailing ships were at their zenith. Volume I deals with the construction of these vesels and is profusely illustrated with 100's of highly detailed line drawings. b & w and full-color plates; with detailed Appendix;10 page summary of each section in English (OTHERWISE THE TEXT IS ENTIRELY IN DANISH). Volume II features 91 vessels in highly detailed, double-page line drawings, many of which are in full-color; with triple-page foldouts as well; statistics of each vessel are in both Danish and English. Published in dark blue cloth boards without dj and in Elephant Folio format; boards have elaborate stamped design of ornamental ships's stern on front board; with the original cardboard slipcase which shows minor signs of wear and scuffing. Boards have minute area of light scuffing to extreme of edges in two places (Were it not for this; both volumes would be in "As New" condition). Photos upon request. Fine. Item #71510
