It sank after being hit by three torpedoes fiored by the Soviet submarine S-13 on 30 January 1945 witht he loss of life thought to be about 9,400- the greates loss of life in a maritime sinking in history. Profusley illustrated with b & w photos, reproductions of newspaper articles, lists of casualties, etc. line drawing on front end papers shows where torpedoes hit; dj has faint impression of being written upon through a sheet of paper laid on it (TEXT IS ENTIRELY IN GERMAN)
